ROOTSTECH CONFERENCE

The weekend of February 10th - 12th was so worth the effort of going to the RootsTech Conference. It was a conference that brought genealogy buffs, family history consultants, Technology Users, and Technology Creaters together. The classes were many and varied. Because of my interest in genealogy and using the modern technology was the reason for my going to it. I learned more about: 1. Publishing my genealogy either on the internet or in a book; 2. RootsMagic Software Program for doing genealogy; 3. Using Google for genealogy research; 4. Creating a one-page website for genealogy; 5. Finding manuscript sources from the internet for genealogy research, and so much more. The "Night at the Clarke Planetarium" was a worthwhile event. There were shows to see in 3-d and food -- all of it free! I went to 2 shows: The Hubble 3 & The Black Holes. Late Night at the Family History Library with extended hours until Midnight. I had been saving up a pile of book references to look up & copied tons of material for only 5 cents a copy. It was well worth the time! They also had food! There were drawings for free software and technology tools everywhere, even at the Family History Library. Next Year the dates for the RootsTech Event will be held February 2-4th 2012. Be sure and mark this in your calendar to attend next year! Posted by Christy Larsen
