Have You Taken Your Vitamin D3 Today?
Because of the lack of sunlight exposure during the harsh winter months, everyone [including seniors and people suffering from SAD -- Seasonal Affect Disorder] need to take Vitamin D daily.
If a person is deficient in vitamin D, they can be twice as likely to develop heart failure; 78% more likely to have a stroke; twice as likely to hav diabetes; and more likely to have high blood pressure.
Vitamin D plays a major role in protecting the brain, according to Dr. Russell Blaylock, a board-certfied neurosurgeon and advisor at Life Extension Foundation. Vitamin D:
*increases neuron glutathione levels to protect the brain;
*helps to reduce inflammation that may lead to Alzheimer's;
*is a powerful antioxidant; and
*reduces harmful levels of nitric oxide, which can form a brain- destroying free radical called peroxynitrite.
