Went to Zion National Park
We went to Zion National Park
It cost us $10 to enter this park and other national parks for the rest of our lives. I guess it pays to be Seniors.
Went to a store and bought this rock -- Peradot Olivine on Basalt - it is very rare gem.
Bought this rock also. This rock is Alabaster -- it is made from two minerals: gypsum and calcite.
This is the 3rd rock I bought. It is obsidian. It is an igneous rock that forms when molten rock material cools so rapidly that atoms are unable to arrange themselves into a crystalline structure. The result is a volcanic glass with a smooth uniform texture that breaks with a conchoidal fracture.
Third picture is called "Checkerboard Mesa".
Love the designs the layers upon layers make!
Virgin River runs through Zion National Park.
It was a beautiful day! We stopped at overlooks, took pictures and picked up a couple of sandstone rocks. We left home at 8 a.m. and returned that night at 9 p.m.
